Lock a card

Lock a card to keep it exactly as it is: where it sits, its size, and what it shows. Not even Stetto can change it.

Lock or unlock

  • On the card. Hover over it and click the lock button (“Lock this card in place”). A locked card keeps its lock in sight, so you can click it again to unlock.
  • In the right panel. Select the card and click the lock at the top of the panel.
  • Several at once. Select them, then click “Lock all” or “Unlock all” in the right panel.

What a locked card does

  • It stays put. You can’t drag or resize it, and nothing moves it for you. Aligning, tidying, scaling and pushing cards aside all go around it. Under auto layout, it keeps its place in the order. Align, distribute, match, tidy See Auto layout.
  • It can’t be changed. Its title, dates and chart type are greyed out in the right panel, and Stetto won’t edit or remove it. See Change selected cards.
  • It can’t be deleted. Delete and cut leave it on the deck, still selected, so it’s clear it stayed. See Delete cards.
  • It keeps its name in the “Layers” list, where it shows a lock. See Layers.

Good to know

  • Locking isn’t a permission. Anyone who can edit the deck can unlock a card. To keep someone from editing at all, make them a viewer. See Roles: admin, editor, viewer.
  • Copies stay locked. A duplicated deck or a pasted card keeps its lock. See Copy, cut and paste.
  • Frames work around locked cards. A frame that’s moved or pushed aside steps past a locked card rather than take it in. See Move, resize, scale and remove a frame.

Who can do this

Editors and admins. See Roles: admin, editor, viewer.
