Help Arranging the canvas
Move and resize
Drag cards anywhere on the canvas and resize them from their handles. They stay exactly where you put them.
Move
Drag a card, or several selected cards together. Cards follow your cursor exactly; nothing snaps.
While you drag, guides show you when an edge or centre lines up with another card, when a gap matches one already on the deck, and how far away the nearest cards are.
Dropping on other cards
- Only cards you actually overlap move. They slide aside, pushing their neighbours along, and keep a 24px gap from what they hit. Drop close to a card without touching it and nothing moves.
- Locked cards never move. A pushed card jumps past one, and a card dropped onto one is nudged to its nearest free side. See Lock a card.
- Dropping one card onto the middle of another offers to combine them. See Drop to combine.
- Dropping a card over a frame makes it join, and the frame grows to hold it. See Which cards belong to a frame.
Resize
Select one card and drag a handle on its edge or corner. Hold Shift to keep its proportions. Any cards it now overlaps are pushed aside the same way. A card in a frame stays in it, because the frame grows.
Cards have a smallest size, so their contents always fit. Make a number, chart or map bigger in both directions and its text grows with it, up to 3 times. A table or list shows more rows instead.
Good to know
- To scale several cards at once, select them and drag a corner of the outline around them. See Select several.
- To line cards up, use the right panel’s tools, or “Tidy up”. See Align, distribute, match, tidy.
- Locked cards can’t be dragged or resized.
- With auto layout on, dragging a card reorders the grid, and resizing changes the height of its whole row. See Auto layout.
- Every move and resize is one undo step. See Undo and redo.
Who can do this
Editors and admins. Viewers can look but can’t move cards. See Roles: admin, editor, viewer.
