Help Frames

Which cards belong to a frame

Every card belongs to one frame at most, and follows that frame’s dates, comparison and region. Here’s how a card joins a frame, leaves it, or keeps its own settings.

Joining and leaving

  • A card belongs to the frame its centre sits in.
  • To add a card, drag it so it overlaps the frame. It joins, and if it hangs over an edge, the frame grows to hold it. A card dropped over the top or left edge comes in just past it, below the frame’s name.
  • To take a card out, drag it clear of the frame. The frame’s other cards stay where they are.

Select a frame and the right panel lists its cards. An empty one says “Drag cards into the frame to add them.”

Frames grow, never shrink

A frame grows when a card is dropped, pushed or resized over its edge, and whatever it then reaches moves out of its way. A pushed card never leaves its frame, and a frame never shrinks on its own.

One frame per card

Frames never overlap or sit inside each other, so every card has one set of dates. Draw a frame over another and you extend the one that’s there. Move or resize one onto another and it pushes the other aside. See Move, resize, scale and remove a frame.

Let a card keep its own dates

Select the card, and in the right panel’s “Data”, untick “Use the frame’s filters”. It keeps its own dates, comparison and region, and shows “Own dates” on the card. Tick it again to follow the frame.

The frame’s own panel counts who follows, like “3 of 4 cards follow the frame; 1 keeps its own.” To leave one filter to the cards, set it to “Each card’s own” on the frame.

Titles follow the frame

Inside a frame that sets the dates, a card title’s date phrase is dropped, since the frame’s label already shows them. “Net sales, last 7 days” reads “Net sales”. Take the card out and its own dates come back into the title.
