Help Cards
Copy, cut and paste
Copy cards and frames with ⌘C, ⌘X and ⌘V, just as you would in any design tool. They paste into any deck, any workspace, even another browser tab.
Copy and paste
- Select the cards or frames you want. A selected frame brings every card inside it. See Select several.
- Press ⌘C to copy, or ⌘X to cut. On Windows, use Ctrl.
- Open the deck you want them in and press ⌘V. It can be in this tab, another tab or another workspace.
Where they land
Pasted cards keep their arrangement. They land in the middle of your view when there’s room there, and otherwise go below everything on the deck. Either way, they arrive selected and the canvas moves to them. One undo takes the whole paste back out. See Undo and redo.
What comes along
- Each card, exactly as it was. Its dates, metrics, filters, rules, chart type, target and note all come too. Pasted cards are new copies, so changing one never changes the original.
- Frames, with their settings and the cards inside them.
- Cards waiting for a source. They come along and say what they need. See When a card is waiting or can't show.
Good to know
- Pasting into another workspace checks every card against that workspace’s data. A region it doesn’t have is dropped, so the card follows the deck instead. A card that can’t work there at all is left out.
- Cut leaves locked cards behind. They’re copied, but they stay on the deck. See Lock a card.
- Typing in a field uses your browser’s own copy and paste, so copying text works as usual.
Who can do this
Everyone can copy. Cutting and pasting are for editors and admins. See Roles: admin, editor, viewer.
