Seats

A seat is what lets someone build. Admins and editors each take one, and viewers are free on every plan.

Who takes a seat

  • Team admins do. Every admin takes an editor seat.
  • Anyone who can edit does. Edit access to even one workspace takes a seat.
  • A pending invite to edit holds one. It keeps the seat until the invite is accepted, cancelled or expires.
  • Viewers never do. It doesn’t matter how many workspaces they can view.

See how many are used

  • In Settings. Your team’s “Plan and seats” page has an “Editor seats” meter that counts admins, editors and pending invites to edit.
  • In the Share flyout. It says so too, for example “2 of 3 editor seats used. Viewers are free.” See Share a workspace and invite people.

When every seat is taken

Giving someone edit access, inviting them to edit, making them an admin and approving their request to edit each need a free seat. If there isn’t one, Stetto says so: “Invite them to view (free), or choose a bigger plan for more seats.”

To free a seat, change an editor to “Can view”, remove someone from the team, or cancel a pending invite to edit. See Team settings.

After a smaller plan

If your team has more editors than its new plan’s seats, everyone keeps editing. You just can’t add another editor until there’s room.

Who can do this

Team admins give out seats and change access. Everyone on the team can see the seat count in Settings. See Roles: admin, editor, viewer.
