Dates, time zones and comparisons
Here’s how Stetto counts days, weeks and months, and which days a change is compared with, so you always know what a percentage is measured against.
Each source keeps its own time zone
Every store and account counts its days in its own time zone, just as its own reports do. Your Shopify store uses the store’s, each ad account and Google Analytics property uses its own, and Klaviyo uses the account’s. So “yesterday” on a Meta card matches yesterday in Ads Manager. See Why doesn't my number match Shopify, Meta or Google?.
Comparisons
Pick one under “Compare” in the right panel’s Data tab or on a frame, or ask Stetto.
- “Previous period” is the same number of days just before. Month to date on Oct 14 (Oct 1-14) compares with Sep 17-30. Last month compares with the whole month before.
- “Same days last month” compares the same dates. It’s offered for month, quarter and year to date, so it can also say quarter or year. It takes the same days of the period before: Oct 1-14 against Sep 1-14. On a month’s last day it’s the whole month before, so March 31 compares with all of February.
- “Same period last year” goes back 52 weeks. That way Mondays compare with Mondays. A range of a year or more goes back 12 months instead, so it never overlaps itself.
Monthly charts always compare whole months. Weekly charts go back whole weeks (“Same weeks last month”), so each week lines up with the same weekdays.
If you change a card’s dates to ones without such a period, a same-days comparison goes back to “Previous period”.
See exactly which days
Hover over a change to see both spans and how many days each one has, like “Mar 1-31 (31 days) vs Feb 1-28 (28 days)”.
Weeks
- Weekly charts start on a Monday. The exception is month, quarter and year to date, which start on the 1st.
- A short first week says so. Its hover shows its days (“Oct 1-4 (4 days)”), and the card notes it: “The first week starts on Oct 1, so it has 4 days.”
- The week or month still in progress is left out. Weekly and monthly charts skip it, so a half-finished week never reads as a drop. The card notes it.
